Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is AdvantageCPR Instruction an approved American Heart Association CPR provider?
Yes, we are authorized American Heart Association instructors.  Depending on which course you take, we offer both American Heart Association and EMS Safety Service courses.  Both follow the national guidelines for CPR, First Aid and AED use. Please ask to see our credentials should you desire to review the official endorsements.   If you are in need of an American Heart Association class specifically, make sure to look for the classes with the AHA logo on our class schedule page!

Q: Do I get a card or certificate once I have completed this class?
CPR stands for Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. Once a training course is completed, you are given a CPR card which proves that you have passed the course. Your CPR card will expire 2 years from the date it was issued.

Q: What is your cancellation policy ?
Our policy is to satisfy all of our customers. To ensure customer satisfaction when scheduling classes on the dates requested, we require that all class cancellations be done 48 hours prior to the scheduled class. Money paid online will be applied toward a future class only if the class is canceled prior to 48 hours.

Our clients will be held responsible for the number of participants that was confirmed to participate in the class. ACI must be notified of any changes in the number of participants within 48 hours of the class. Otherwise you will be billed for the number confirmed.

Private CPR/FA classes or OSHA 10 and 30 classes will be billed for the full amount due if cancelled by client with less than 48 hours notice. Discounts may be given at ACI’s discretion.

Q: Why should I have a current CPR card?
Some occupations require a person to have a valid, current CPR card. When you have a CPR card you become a citizen who can assist in offering basic life saving techniques, until professional medical help arrives. CPR is a highly valuable skill.

Q: How do I renew my CPR card?
Answer: When your CPR card expires (2 years from the date it was issued) you will need to attend another CPR course to update your skills and get a valid, current card.

Q: How long is a CPR course?
Depending on which class you take, it can last from approximately 2  1/2 to 4 1/2 hours.  (EX:  Basic CPR lasts approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours.  CPR and Basic First Aid lasts approximately 4 hours.)  At Advantage CPR, we make sure that each person has had adequate practice time and are confident in their abibility to help in an emergency before leaving class, therefore class times may fluctuate slightly.

Q: Who can get certified in CPR?
Any willing, physically able adult or child participant can become certified. You must attend and pass a CPR course.

Q: Whats the difference between CPR, First Aid and AED?
CPR: A combination of chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth breathing used when breathing, heartbeat, or both stop.  Compression-Only CPR is just compressing at the rate of 100 beats per minute.

First Aid: is emergency care given immediately to an injured person. The purpose of first aid is to minimize injury and future disability.

AED: A small device about the size of a laptop computer that provides a brief, but powerful, electrical shock to the heart into a normal rhythm following cardiac arrest.
